STUDIO 3A
GROUP WORK: MASTER PLAN
Our studio group of 10 students created a master plan for a site in Philadelphia, including retail, residential, commercial and institutional properties. We spent five weeks conducting research on the site and making our plan. Some of our goals included connecting the existing community with Drexel, working with existing topography conditions, and making it sustainable. Download file below for larger images

INDIVIDUAL WORK: NEXUS GROCER AND MARKET
ITERATION 1 After the master plan was complete, each student was assigned a building. I designed the grocery store, which has a typical grocery store on the first floor and an organic/local market on the second floor. A huge part of my design revolves around how I am working with my neighboring conditions. Working with the residential building to the south, we have a shared a seating area and pathway. Working with the bridge and parking garage to the north, my store is accessible directly from the parking garage with an additional entrance. The bridge also reaches the roof of my building which is a public space and urban farm. I also provide a seating area on my property for the restaurants that are under the bridge. This project is not finished and will be continued studio 3B Download file below for larger images

STUDIO 2B
GROUP WORK: NEIGHBORHOOD DESIGN ON WINTER STREET
As a continuation from studio 2A, my group of 10 students used the same site on 32nd and Winter street and redesigned the entire block. It consists of 20 row homes, two parking lots, a shared green space, and back alleys. Our wide street encourages outdoor activity and interaction between neighbors. |
INDIVIDUAL WORK: MID HOUSE AND ACCESSIBILITY
I was assigned to two houses, one on a corner that was to be fully handicap accessible and one in the middle of a row. My major concept that I had been sticking with since studio 2A was a separation of served and servant spaces which I transformed into a separation public and private spaces. I achieved this through a split level floor plan, with a clear zone of circulation separating the two. Download file below for larger images
